Dear Foundation Supporters

Quite frequently we hear the phrases “our children are our future” or “children are our greatest asset”. Often times the use of these phrases are empty statements uttered by people without real thought or reflection about their true meaning. As supporters of the Foundation for Lee County Public Schools, Inc., your actions indicate that you truly understand the meaning and truth of these phrases. You understand that the children of today are the decision-makers, employers and employees of tomorrow. They will be making the decisions that will shape our community and our standard of living.

Education is a key component in shaping what kind of citizen we will become as an adult. If you think about it, education is one of the primary factors (second only to our family), that molds how we think and what we do! The awesome responsibility of educating our youth outside of the home belongs to our school teachers. In Lee County the vast majority of our children attend public school. Approximately 80,000 students (and rising) attend public schools in Lee County! The public school experience, therefore, has a profound impact in determining the adult course our children will take.

The business community has a keen understanding of the importance of a quality public education. The basis for an economically strong community is a quality public education system. That is why a concerned group of local business and community leaders created the Foundation in 1986. The mission of enhancing the quality of public education in Lee County by increasing community involvement in, and support for, Lee County district public schools is even more vital today given the population explosion in the number of students attending our public schools.

Your ongoing support will help us to continue to achieve our goal of creating and enhancing opportunities for our public school students and teachers. Thank you for all that you do for our greatest asset… our children!
