Mentoring programs in the schools is a part of the Partners in Education and Take Stock in Children programs. If you can donate 30 minutes two-to-four times a month, you can change a child's life. Through personal meetings with a scholar in the Take Stock program, you will help that child build a foundation of basic values and challenge them to take responsibility for their actions. Take Stock in Children scholars are financially disadvantaged students who have been selected through an application process to receive four-year college tuition scholarships. A mentor helps the student set goals and make sure they understand the importance of staying in school and remaining crime and drug free. Mentors in elementary and middle schools can help mentor or tutor in many different areas, predominantly academics.

Mentoring in the Lee County school system is provided three ways, either in the Elementary, Middle or High School level.

Take Stock in Children needs adults willing to make a difference in the life of an adolescent. Mentors are caring professionals who listen, befriend, act as role models, and provide support and guidance. If you believe that education is part of the foundation for rebuilding our society, volunteer to be a mentor! These financially disadvantaged high school students have recently won a 4 year college tuition scholarship and need your help to succeed. 30 minutes at least twice a month, on school grounds during school hours. What could be easier?

Elementary and middle school students also need mentors for reading, math and other academic skills. After background checks, the mentors are assigned a school and assigned a student. Why not help a younger student get a good start in an academic life?
