Golden Apple Teacher Recognition Program™
The prestigious Golden Apple Teacher Recognition™ Award has been presented to
110 teachers since the program was founded in Lee County in 1986. Teachers are honored at the annual formal dinner in the spring, which is televised live by WINK-TV. The Academy of Teachers and Collegium for the Advancement of Teaching are also elements of the Golden Apple Teacher Recognition Program™.

Mini-Grants for Teachers
Teachers employed by The School District of Lee County may apply for grants worth up to $750 per teacher or $2,000 for a group or entire grade for projects that enhance student learning. Each project may have a business partner.

Partners in Education Program
The Partners in Education Program affords the business community three areas of involvement in public education:
      Business Partners provide time, talent and resources to assist individual Lee County public schools and The         Foundation. Each partnership is designed to meet the needs of both the school and the business.
      Mentor Program - provides caring adults to mentor students.
      School Resource Center - Through the School Resource Center, trash becomes “treasure” for our teachers. Sponsors   support the operation of the Resource Center.
Partners in Education Program Signature Sponsor: $10,000 At this level, the sponsor gets recognition in every aspect of the three components.

Jim & Ellie Newton Children’s Literature Center
The Literature Center has more than 300 classroom sets of books for teachers to checkout for their classes.
Donations of $200 to $1,000 purchase a classroom set of books. Donors’ names are on a nameplate in each book.

Take Stock in Children
This program provides four-year tuition scholarships to approximately 30 financially disadvantaged ninth-grade students each year. Students are also paired with adult mentors to ensure success. An auction is held annually in the fall to raise money to purchase scholarships. Donations are welcome all year.

A-Team Challenge
Now in its 15th year, this is the only televised high school academic competition in Southwest Florida.

State of our Schools Breakfast
Hosted annually by the Foundation, this breakfast gives the Superintendent of Lee County Public Schools the opportunity to address the business community about the progress of Lee County’s public schools.

School Bucks®, Coupons for Education Book
The annual district-wide sale of School Bucks coupon books raises much-needed dollars for Lee County public schools. Approximately 36,000 books are sold annually.

For each purchased or renewed “Support Education” license plate, $20 is donated to the Foundation. Ask for “Support Education” plates and show your support for our public schools!

The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools has banner ads available on our website: www.leeschoolfoundation.org. Call and ask about our rates beginning at $200 - quarterly.

Partners Newsletter
The Foundation’s bimonthly newsletter focuses on initiatives resulting from the business-education partnerships with the Foundation.

Endowment Fund
Established through the Southwest Florida Community Foundation, this charitable fund affords individuals and businesses an additional vehicle to make donations or bequests to support, enhance and enrich public education in Lee County.
