Career Days

Collaborating with the Lee County Economic Development Office and the School District, we will bring Career Days to every eighth grade district school student in the county. In a class of 30 high school freshmen, 8 will drop out of high school, 9 will graduate and receive no further education and 13 will start postsecondary education/training. 6 of those will drop out within year one, 2 will drop out between years 2-4 and 2 will graduate but not find jobs in their fields. This program will encourage the students to look at themselves and start thinking about their future.

Pre and post curriculum are added to a day with guest speakers from a broad area of career choices including: Building Construction & Design, Medical and Healthcare, Business/Finance/IT Marketing, Engineering and Manufacturing, Public Service, and Hospitality.

Students will view a custom designed web page outlining different careers and their relative courses of study and expected salary ranges. Guest speakers are added to coincide with the video and give a live presentation of their local careers.

This program compliments their Career Exploration curriculum.  The students complete a survey after Career Day.
