The A-Team Challenge, developed 19 years ago by the Foundation for Lee County Public Schools, Inc. and NBC-2, is the only televised high school academic competition in Florida on a national affiliate.

The Foundation in partnership with Waterman Boardcasting/NBC-2 and the Lee County School District use high school students to help produce the show.

The purpose of the A-Team Challenge is to encourage, promote and spotlight academic achievement and excellence among area high school students. An independent panel of active and retired education and business professionals preside as judges at each week’s competition.

The programs can be seen on Comcast Cable LEARN channel. You can find the cable TV schedule and videos of the game on the web at: www.leeschools.net/ateam

The quarter, semi and finals games will air during prime time on NBC-2 in April and May 2008.

Unlike other academic competitions attended by students, there is never any charge to the schools for the student teams’ participation in the A-Team Challenge. Thanks to the support of the program’s sponsors, all costs are covered, providing additional encouragement for students to participate.
