The Foundation's partnerships with the private sector have allowed us to create and operate programs and initiatives that give students and teachers in Lee County public schools the opportunity to excel. We support students and families who are in financial need, provide educators resources for an effective learning environment and reward students and educators who prove their excellence.
The School District of Lee County is one of the 50 largest school districts in our country. It is made up of 80,000 students from grades K-12, 11,500 full and part time employees and 5,000 educators. Not only is Lee County's public school district one of the largest, but it is also one of the most socioeconomically disadvantaged; 65% of our students meet the federal guidelines for poverty.
These statistics show the great importance of supporting Lee County Public Schools.
